Android is no longer just about smartphones and tablets – the platform has now been extended to cars too. Partnering with key automotive companies, like Czech car manufacturer ŠKODA, Google has developed Android Auto to bring innovation to on-road connectivity. Android Auto allows drivers to seamlessly sync their Android phone to their car infotainment system, enabling them to control services such as Google Maps, Spotify or WhatsApp, make phone calls, or ask for their favourite sports team scores all while keeping their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road. ŠKODA is one of the first car manufacturers in Europe to integrate Android Auto into their car infotainment systems, and it offers Android Auto-enabled models in all vehicle categories. “ŠKODA has a key strategy to improve connectivity for its customers, and Android Auto sits at the centre of that,” says Luigi Ricciardi, Product Marketing – Coordinator Smart Mobility and Smartphone Integration. “In today’s tech-savvy world, people expect to connect to their phones in any space. With Android Auto, this is now happening, and the smartphone and the car have become part of a new entirely connected and highly personal driving experience.” Android Auto supports automotive companies like ŠKODA to take full advantage of the opportunities that digital technology offers and to bring the industry into the connected age. “When we think of Android, we think of the words: innovation, technology and future-proof,” says Siddarth Goud, Communications Specialist. “We know Android Auto will be an exciting addition to the automotive industry, and we at ŠKODA want to be a part of that exciting journey delivering enhanced and personalised experiences to our customers.”
